Material ID Plug in?

Am hoping this is around somewhere otherwise it would be a GREAT idea as a plug in...
All material IDs are defaulted to black. Is there a plug in that randomly applies difference colours to each material ID to make it easier in post?
I usually have to do this manually but if there is a plug in for this idea that would be much easier

There is no API to modify V-Ray settings.
