Win 7 upgrade & su 8

Hi "T",
Is that all the error message you get?
Another important thing: what video card do you have in your computer? -
Thank you very much for your reply:

Hm. First of all, I would try to completely uninstall the program. Not just reinstall but remove it with the uninstall function. Maybe even delete the remaining program file folder (if you know ehere and what to look for).
Then install it again.
Your card seems to be okay for SketchUp. With this error, simply updating the video driver would probably not be the solution (although it never hurts...)
-
Did that multiple times already, yes know and found where the file folder(s) were/are each time. Then Recreated with different name with each newer install just to be sure. Even went retro downloading and installing SU7 at one point thinking that it migh've helped, to no avail. But don't remember if I got the java error though when I did that one, sorry, like i said 'multiple' times. Figuring maybe I missed deleting something? or missed a clue on install? or maybe try retro? or ... ? it was a different 'maybe' I tried each time.
Yes, with win7 upgrade, losing ALL programs, have been tracking down and obtaining the most recent, thereby upgrading eventhough it all 'auto' upgraded with vista, including the 'Catylst'/ATI for the video driver. so did that too.
I'm just confumbled with this oddity.
If you think doing it again might help?

I however was remiss in forgetting to thank you for your efforts though. I've been at this searcing for missing pieces after the win7 upgrade just putting things back, till 3am this morning then at it again till now (not just SU). My emotions and weariness are getting me, please accept my apologies.
SU was just the 2nd after my office programs I've attempted to put back. And just like them (they're very old) it's all just pieces to a gigantic headache. Is this process painful/strugglesome for everyone or is it just me?
I will try to uninstall, wipe clean, redownload, and reinstall if you think that'll help though.
-
Well, I am really not sure what's going on there I have to be honest. I am still on XP and only thought that a complete uninstall/reinstall can help (I have been there myself, too).
-
Thank you for all your suggestions.
I retried all to no avail.
I'm sure it's a setting conflict somewhere, I just don't know where.
Maybe as I become more familiar with Win7's idiosyncrasies (sp?) I'll try again.
Maybe something will pop out as a 'duh' something or other; then I'll feel relieved . . . but so dumb.Right now it seems an endless run around so I'll lay low and have to do without SU for now .
Thanks again.

You say this is a 'Java error'.
Control Panels > Java settings.... and try adjusting these and retry SUp ? -
It cannot be Java. It is not even needed for SU and I do not think it would be triggered if one wants to install SU.
Probably javascript, isn't it?Maybe reinstalling IE would be good. Uninstall and reinstall.
Also, you can try to create a new user profile on your computer and install SU there first. I have heard such things already (IE gets compromised on user account basis).

This first pic is of Error, whether Yes or No same results..

Just before posting pics, I went to Java site and upgraded all I could for Win7 and IE8
AND
Wend to IE site and upgraded or 'reinstalled' repaired this brand new IE8 on here.
and
still. I just don't know. I'll keep pluggin' in here and there and maybe. -
Thank you all for your advices though, I really do appreciate them. I'll keep checking back and trying.
(Sorry Prev. post 'went') -
It's javascript. Have you also tried to install it on another user account than yours on the computer as I suggested?

Finally could get back to solving this mystery. I did create a new ID. Thank you; that led to solving the dilemma; er. . headache . . worse!
The solution is a 'duh' moment! Da ta da DAHHhhhh!
Window's personalization settings for 'Transparancies.' Though I excluded this initially on all accounts, once I set up a new ID; installed SU8; happily surprised it worked! Thank you again. Each step of setting my own 'personalizations' I reopened SU to be sure. What do you know?
SU 7 nor 8 will show right with Window's CLASSIC nor High Constrast settings. Imagine that.Retro, (hind sight 20/20) 'transparancies'; why didn't I look further into them and discount them so quickly? answ: b'cause they shouldn't be related to the problem?
Why would anyone dare[/ithink THAT about a "Microsoft" product that constantly required downloads, upgrades, n fixes?. . .] duh!
(note: the new ID resulted in IE8 loading; which I was stalling as long as possible; OH well)
I went back n forth; setting and re-setting the 'personalizations' and sure enough, that's it. I just am not particularly fond of the 'transparancy' set up, but will gladly sacrifice comfort to use SU, maybe I'll get used to them.Look! Witness! Be Amazed! Thanks again for all input. Though I set up the 2nd ID; I hadn't had the gumption to try to do SU process again:
clean drive of all reminants; double check; re-download; re-install . . . all that.
Glad I finally did!Now I can start learning how to use the 'follow me' tool to recreate my round dinning room wood table's edge! To lathe! That looks like fun! and of course do the 'work' I need to do in it too, but it's all fun to me.

Though I still get Java error???? seems to effect nothing at my beginner's level though,
See below, with CLASSIC setting the problem reoccurs.
