      Hi Everyone,

I am new to SU and Vray as I have alaways modelled and rendered in Revit.

I am currently working on my first image which is attached and I cant seem to work out how to stop the light coming through the join in the wall and ceiling. I have made the walls overlap so there is no gap.

Also I cant seem to be able to get the outside view to be seen through windows, they are only rendered as a white light.

Any help would be great, I have attached the image for your reference.

      Much appreciated.

If it isn't the irradiance map, then it is the light cache. From the VRay Documentation (for Max, but should apply):

"Similar to the photon map, you can get "light leaks" with the light cache around very thin surfaces with substantially different illumination on both sides. Currently there is no way to avoid this, except to avoid having very thin objects; also the effect can be reduced by decreasing the Sample size and/or the filtering."

I generally find that for my Light Cache, I use a Sample Size of 0.02 is fine, but may go down to 0.01. And I use a Filter set to Nearest with Samples set to 10 for a final rendering. Also make sure your Light Cache is set to Adaptive sampling.

on the contrary...though this is coming quite late. πŸ˜‰. I've been having those for a while especially in my night renders. After testing some more and checking online, i found out the trick was the irradiance map settings being low. You need to increase the values a bit say min max of -3,0 or -4,-1 or -5,-2. For most scenes though i just use -6,-3 especially when i'm doing night scenes.

@ ledisnomad - I model with thin surfaces and hardly ever do interior walls along with my exteriors so this was the best way for me to avoid doing double walls or having to do post in photoshop on my renders. Hope this helps. Cheers

If you don't ask, the answer will always be no.
