Swamp People Commercial...
-
Heh. I came back to mention the multicamera and Monsieur LeBon got me.
-
Well, Monsieur LeBon is probably the most competent cameraman around here
-
So, You mean to tell me that movies are fake.... Is nothing sacred?
(Really, cool stuff to see Simon) -
yes, I realize a full circle was never made but they describe it in the Matrix as 360 degree cameras...
but I wonder how they would set up these cameras in the swamp?

What swamp ? -
Tig are you saying that's all fake?

Who knows? Everything else seems to be -
that's true... although I feel like I have a pretty keen eye to the fake.
it almost seems to me that what they've done is shot a video from one angle and then someone built the scene in 3D and textured the models to match the video and then shot the 180 degree camera rotation shots. if you notice the video is a bit hazy, seemingly on purpose, but the "water splashing" looks pretty good. I would really like to know. it's a pretty dramatic effect.

Check the Stargate Studio Reel above. It shows the use of the green screen background pretty well.

Hi Krisidious, Scottpara, Mitcorb, Numbthumb, Dale, Tig, it is so cool to recover you ++
After Mitcorb suggestions, (we can also add filming by drone which is a very active research actually) I have watched again the "Swamp People" video.
I can be wrong but I still think that it had been made with a multicameras process.-
the motion is not fluid but a bit jerky. I think the great skill of Matrix team (and the big money to do it) was to give a perfect fluidity to the motion at postproduction stage.
-
the people motion is not "natural" but something like "stopped" during the semi circular travellings. This tends to exclude the "natural" live camera movement.
-
Scottpara is right: only 180°! So, no greenscreen needed and so a lot of posproduction(money) saved. (It is not very foolish to imagine a 180° semi-circle of x-cameras set on an inflatable raft)
After all, if you want to achieve a "Bullet time" by yourself, follow the guide:

that's pretty kool Simon, I didn't think they could do it that cheaply in the swamp, but I guess it would have been simpler than I thought.
