Chessboard Illusion
-
Tricky indeed!
There is a distorsion on the left corner bottom
(maybe a screen distorsion ?
because there is not on the all half right part!
-
What I saw was a black circular thing encroaching at the upper left and some white dots in the squares disappearing as the thing got near them. I saw no distortion or other activity.
Edit: and definitely no red grid. -
Red grid is mine for explain the distorsion
the dots disapear is real, there is not illusion inside for them
It's just the explanation of the illusion
I am wrong? -
Initially there are dots and the grid looks distorted.
[if it doesn't get your eyes tested or your monitor re-calibrated]
As the dots disappear the grid appears to regularize,
but it doesn't change at all - it was always thus........... -
That's amazing. I've never seen such small chess pieces. They anyone notice there are too many pieces? Is that the illusion?

Easy tiger

Now... you've only yourselves to blame ! [The gif files are non-animated single frame images]

but take a "print shot" of the video, you will see that I said is also true
Draw a red vertical line and the see left corner bottom!
it's just not a perfect videoAnd the effect is also well known
groups of different colors(here white dots)afect other environment's color for the brain (blacks squares)
As these white dots are tricky positionned illusion can run
Collapse them at each center of the black squares you will obtain another one
