    Hi SketchUcation community,

I am looking for an application which will allow me to wrap the 2D shape to the 3D shape featured here. It would be great if I could choose where I positioned the profile on the mould before it was shaped.

Anyone have any thoughts on how to do this?

    Cheers,

    Mark

The built-in Sandbox tool 'Drape' will do it... BUT first scale up everything x10 so that it works - very small resultant faces will fail as they are below the minimum size that SUP/OpenGL can process... and you can scale back down x).1 afterwards without loss of data...
Place the grouped 'draper' face above the 'drapee' surface [adjustable using axis locks, snaps etc] and then pick them in turn - the tool 'drapes' the form over the surface...2D shape to 3D shape.PNG2D shape to 3D shape1.PNG2D shape to 3D shape.skp

        Hi TIG,

Thanks for the tip, that definitely looks like the application I am looking for.

However, I am having a bit of trouble getting the last step completed. If you see the attached file, I can get the C-Drape on the mold, but I can't figure out how you got the profile to mesh with the points...?

You need to Scale everything up x10 and afterwards down x0.1,
Sketchup and OpenGL can't cope with the small faces that result in such a small object intersection and so nothing gets made... 😕 Capture.PNG
