Making guide points along a line(SOLVED) Thanks TIG!
-
Hello just curies if there was a plug-in or way to accomplish this.
Say you draw a line and want to add guide points along that line say every 8 foot or what ever you would like such as every 16 inches for a stud wall.
Instead of manually going *' enter; 8 foot enter and so on till ya get to the end.
Thanks for your time.

There are scripts to add clines and cpoints, but the Tapemeasure tool with appropriate picking/modfier-keys will do these too.
If you want to copy any object [including cpoints or clines] use Move+Ctrl, type in the required distance and you then have one copy at say 16"" away from the original, to make multiple copies immediately type xN where N is the number of copies you want so typing x3 would make 3 copies at 16", 32" and 48". If you want to space the copies equally between a start and an end copy place the copy at the end-position and type /N where N is the number of copies again and there will be that number of copies added between the origin and the end one you just placed - this is useful for equally spacing copies to fill a gap - e.g. first copy is 45" off and then /3 would make the copies equally spaced at 15" [but of course an odder dimension would give equal but awkward to work out spacings].The above is how to make and array along a path at equal centers but you can also do it around an Arc/Circle using Rotate+Ctrl to make the copies and typing in an angle in degrees, so 15.0 and x3 makes 3 copies, sweeping a total of 45 degrees in all, or with 36.0 and /3 it sweeps the first copy 36 degrees but the intermediate ones are placed at 12 degrees increments in between...
