Only 5 hours left for those on the fence...
It has just occurred to me that you might use this as a rendering program. It has the usual features:
Hair & fur
Particle Clouds
Displacement
Blurry reflections
Caustics
Sub Surface Scattering
Anisotropics
Several Global Illumination methods
Surface emittersA gallery:

I bought two Pro versions to help all of us along - and just found out that they are still accepting the reduced pricing now even though they've hit their magical number. Buy one for a friend, maybe?
-
I tried to purchase another copy (during that 12 hour grace period), but got nowhere. Perhaps the server wasn't working?

The following statement is on their site at present:
**Due to the overwhelming response, we are in the process of updating the license system to better automate the management of everyone generating their licenses. We have a 3 day delay in finalizing the transactions, and downloading them into the system. We hope to have license generation up by Saturday or perhaps sooner. You will be getting an email to the email address you provided paypal when you purchased, that will contain the url and login info to generate your license for your purchase or purchases(if you did them in more than one transaction).
-
That only confirms my impression that they sold dozens of thousands of licenses.
-
Anyone heard anything yet?
-
Nope
-
Licences are mailing out, looks like they are doing them in batches.
also to note :
"We discovered a bug, in the PHP web language (not our code), that generates wrong numbers for certain client ids who drive info is above a certain number range, leading to licenses that don't work. We have created a custom function to fix it, and are in the process of trying it. If your license file contains the lockid: CB2147483647B29 this is causing the problem. Many other people have generated their license fine, and are unaffected by the bug. There is nothing you have to do yet; we will check the license text for you and see if we can reset it, so you can generate it again." - pmG
if you've not got yours by now, you should'nt be affected.

Just a head's up:
I received my email notice yesterday, Sunday. The download went well, Messiah is running on my iMac (OS 10.5.8). Just go slowly, read their instructions.Various video tutorials here (can be downloaded):

Good to hear I was getting nervous.
-
The community forums there are full of people complaining about licenses not working or not having received them. I ordered my copy when the bar had barely moved and haven't got license yet, so I guess things are a bit of a mess there. Good to know things are being worked on, but it would be nice to have an official announcement or email about how and when your license is being dispensed.
-
Just received the e-mail. It seems you can lock your license to either your hard drive or a USB drive. Just wondering what are you guys choosing...
-
installed and running using a surplus 1gb drive we've hardly used

Just got mine too.
That's a good question. I'll have to think about that. -
I just got mine too.
I think I'll use a USB stick, then hopefully the licence will be portable?
-
Got mine downloaded, installed and licensed very easily.
Now the hard part... learning a new 'tool'... -
I'm trying to find a small usb stick to hold the licence. Absolutely impossible! A 4 or 8 gig stick seems overkill!
-
Yes, It looks like on Mac the USB is our only option, is that your read?
-
That's how I interpreted the instructions; so I put the license on an old USB stick; no problems.
Also, imported a .3DS from SU7 of a custom bed I built for a client. Opened fine in Messiah. Have to play more as time permits, nothing to show yet.

I feel the same way. Maybe you could:
-make that USB stick a dedicated backup device for "current projects", or
-install Linux on it, or
-make it your default download folder, or
-any other use that also requires it to be permanently attached.
