        @arjun

You're fond of these polls and comparisons aren't you? Anyway this debate has raged for years and will continue to i suppose. But the definitive answer is make your own OS. I did, it's called Mindac. It gets lots of viruses and has no security vulnerabilities. πŸ‘

          Arjun,

Before trying to compare two diferent operating systems why not upgrade to Windows 7, 64 bit and SU 8?, and see how awesome it runs, that way you will have no need to even contemplate Mac.

            1. You buy a mac for 3 times the price of a PC.

            2. You buy Apple Protection Plan (in case something goes wrong)

            3. Something goes wrong.

            4. Apple shafts you. Everything is your fault.

            5. You wonder why you ever bought a mac in the first place.

Pete, I may need to have a word with you about this....I have seen your crazy render videos with thea and its almost real-time!
              What specs are your PC?

I've spent about Β£3000 on apple computers.....and they both have major problems.

My 24inch imac has been replaced as the screen keeps steaming up. Now the replacement has steamed up for the fourth time. (when they repair it, they just clean it).

My macbook pro aluminium case warps and bulges when the laptop gets hot.....it's been at the repair centre weeks (while they contemplate whether or not I deserve a new case)

I have a Protection Plan but it means nothing. Never buying apple again!!

Mac vs Windows is like "apples and oranges". You can't compare hardware to software. If the question is between OSX and Windows, then at least you are looking at similar things. Unfortunately, even here there are problems. Windows maintains backward compatibility, in some cases to DOS functions. It is my understanding that from time to time, Apple, has abandoned maintaining backwards compatibility in favor of optimizing new technology. Because of differences in emphasis like this, except for basic things like hardware IO and file management, the "operating systems" are difficult to evaluate one against the other. If you only look at the basic functions, then the software are very similar.

I recently upgraded with some new stuff and it's actually quieter than my old PC.
It's not hard to build your own PC and it's cheeper than bying a comparable stock PC.

                        Motherboard: Asus P8P67 PRO
Harddrive: Corsair SSD Force Series 120GB 2.5"
CPU: Intel Core i7 2600K 3,4GHz (Sandy Bridge)
                        CPU fan: Noctua NH-C12P SE14
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 580 1536MB (very quiet for such power)
                        RAM: Corsair 8GB (2x4096MB) 1600MHz XMS3
Power: Corsair HX 850W 80+ (ready for a possible future second SLI GPU)

lol one of these things pops up all the time haha on every website under the sun, as a user of both they are both as good as each other depending on what your using them for.
Macs for design such as photo, web, graphics etc and PC's for the hardcore powerful stuff such as 3D and animation. All you have to do is look at any major big studio they all have macs and PC's for these purposes. depending on what your doing choose one or the other and if both just get a PC.

Well I love my Macs, they are more enjoyable to use for me, they look better, are made better and work better.
But you can argue about this all day long, you just have to try.
