      Hi

At the moment i have a simple method of modelling curtains. I simply use Fredos plugin/Bezier tool and i draw the base of the curtain. From there i push pull it up and thats it! simple!
However, im wanting to learn to do the below 2 techniques, anyone have any idea how to achieve this?

      1. Model it as though there is wind blowing through the curtain (see attached)
      2. Tie up the curtain as per the image. How would i do this?

Im also wanting to get in organic modelling as some of the work here is incredible... any direction on this?

      Thanks heaps guys!

i'd recommend free form divide or FFD plugin. just make your straight wavy curtin then distort with FFD

          Hi Scostmatu,

There are certain tools that can help in such organic modelling. One basic tool is the sandbox tool of course (and that used with the Scale/Rotate/Move tools).

Then there are plugins like what Rich suggested above...

Then there is ThomThom's Vertex Tools which is like sandbox on steroids.

Then there is Whaat's Subdivide and Smooth plugin which is probably one of the musts if you want to get into organic modelling. Roumors say that version 2 is coming soon with extended capabilities and such.

These two above are commercial plu9gins but do not cost a fortune.

With such modelling, the worst part will be texturing those curtains. ThomThom has a (free) UV Toolkit plugin that can help with that.

          Gai...

I would use Tig's Extrude edges by rails for thisScreen shot 2011-01-26 at 6.18.15 PM.png
Make a box the size of your drapes.Screen shot 2011-01-26 at 6.21.56 PM.png
Erase the faces and weld the curvesScreen shot 2011-01-26 at 6.26.37 PM.png
Follow the direction as to which curves to select and that's about it.
            Hope this helps.

I'd suggest using SDS and FFD.

Here is a time lapse example.

What are you doing? Modelling then undoing to beginning then recording your redoing?

That's too many doings in a post

Yeah, I model it then undo to the beginning and redo till the end.

A lot faster than recording every movement.
