How to use House Builder Plug In?
-
I have downloaded this plug-in after coming across a mention of it and it sounded like a neat thing to try out. Problem is, I have no idea how to use it. There is a youtube video about it, but there is no sound and the person moves around to fast to see whats going on, and can't make out what he is clicking on to do this or that...

That is a great plugin. The idea is to use it to make all the frames for the house (as I'm sure you saw on the youtube video). Then you add windows and doors to the frame. First select the frame portion, then click the "add door". Then look at the ground and there is an outline of where the door is going to be added. Once its in the right place, click again and it will add it to the frame.
I just recently used it to make a big 2 story house where I needed to show all the framing. I even made my own quick drywall script and I drywalled my entire house That was a lot of tedious fun.
So do you still need help with it? I really didn't explain much. I could do a quick video. Once you see how it works, its pretty straight forward.

Thanks for the reply Chris, I found the garage tour demo, so it makes more sense now I just installed the Housebuilder plug in, do I also need the housebuilder extension?

Hmm, I'm not sure what the difference is. I've got the version installed that has a nice toolbar. Do you have a toolbar?
-
No toolbar, have to get everything from the Draw menu pulldown.
-
Did you tick the box for House Builder under Preferences>extensions? And then turned on the toolbar under View>Toolbars?
-
Man...that Ruby Script Depot site is some slow..it usually times out.
-
Never had that happen to me with that site. I wonder if Didier is doing maintenance.

Which version has the toolbar? I only get entries in the Draw menu, with no option to tick under Preferences or under View/Toolbars...

You are saying it has no check box under Window>Preferences>Extensions?

Hello, I'm missing some important step in the install process bc I can't source a rbz file when I'm searching for the extension to add within sketchup. I"ve downloaded from the ruby site several times now and no luck. Please help! I"m running sketchup 2015.

Do you want the metric or original '&" version ?
There are links to both if you search these forums...
