I hope that I haven't really screwed things up! I've been trying to learn rendering techniques (using the book "Sketchup 7.1 for Architectural Visualiztion" by Robin de Jongh. I recently downloaded some materials into folders as well as Kerkythea and SU2Kerkythea exporter on my computer, and noticed that suddenly my Paint Bucket Tool has no materials. My license info is also missing, and my Pro version has reverted back to the free version.

I had previously installed Pro 8, and uninstalled it due to issues with push/pull, which may have been related to my driver. I updated my driver, and reinstalled Pro 8, and noticed that the Paint Bucket Materials and licensing authorization issues were not working on the reinstalled version either.

I then performed a system restore (which worked prior)to try to go "back in time" to correct the problem, but even that didn't work.

I'm on the verge of tears, and could definitely use some advice! I now can't use either version, and have invested over $600 on PRO. I've contacted Technical support, but was even having issues getting through to them due to same licensing issues. 😢

If you did a complete uninstall, probably your license info disappeared as well. Hopefully you still have the email with the serial No. and Auth code - simply re-license it.

Kerkythea and the exporter plugin should not cause this however. There must be something else...

I have the e-mail with the authorization info. Tried OVER and OVER to just try to reinstall and re-license...NOT working. Any other suggestions? Or am I "re-licensing" wrong?

It's a few years since I used windows but your uninstall might have have left some SU related files here and there plus entries in the registry. I suggest you clean the registry of anything that says Sketchup in its entry. If you rid your system of anything that SU installed/changed, then it should reinstall just fine.

I used to use this utility - jv16 power tools - http://www.macecraft.com/ for any registry related stuff and it worked very well for me.

I see you are on Vista. XP or Windows 7 might be better!

Thanks Gaieus and Chris for the advice.

I was able to get tech support from Sketchup, followed their suggestions to uninstall Sketchup, reboot, and then reinstall Version 7, 8 or both. I reinstalled Pro 7, only, with "fingers crossed" that push/pull would work on that version, and I'd be back to normal.

Fortunately, my licensing info was back, my paint bucket tools were back, however, push/pull operation is now not functioning on Version 7! (Still just moving faces rather than extruding.) I updated my driver as suggestd, but it had no effect. I'm truly at wit's end! I've never had any issues before with regard to Vista. I never had any SU issues before installing Pro 8. (If I only had a time machine, haha)

Chris, I'm not sure what you mean about cleaning out the registry. (Once again, please forgive computer ignorance!) I've requested additional help from the Sketchup Tech support, and hope to be back in business (literally!!!) soon! Would you still recommend cleaning out the registry, even though "most of Sketchup" is back? Or do I risk wiping out valuable info?

Desperate here!! Thanks for your advice as always, and please forgive my late response. Just returned to town from a funeral.

                BarbE,

When PP only moves the face, it is generally the indicator of some video card/driver issue. You say you updated the driver. What card do you have? What happens if you disable hardware acceleration under Window > Preferences > OpenGL?

                  Hi Gai,

(and again thanks for your prompt reply!) Driver is NVIDIA GEFORCE 9800M GS 512MB. I did try the suggestions of disabling the hardware acceleration, but it had no effect. I've also noticed that my models look somewhat different. They don't appear to be as "crisp" with lines appearing a bit jagged.

                  Frustrated!

Well, yeah, if you disable hardware acceleration (which in his case was only a test), you do not get antialiasing.
