Is there a plugin out there that generates cones by a given angle?

No hill for a stepper like you πŸ˜„
Plus, if you do your own version, you have nobody to blame but yourself for how good it is πŸ’š
Seriously, there is a cone primitive in the components browser. Could you use this as a first step?

I wanted to visualize some lights, where it hit - so I wanted to insert several cones where I could adjust it's angle in an easy manner for quick adjustments.

Was hoping I wouldn't have to make another plugin. Ain't got time for more. My Todo-list is beyond full already.

Not sure about what you have in mind, but I guess you could use the cone lights in Twilight's demo version for that purpose... πŸ’š

Pick the third icon in TWL's toolbar. The first click is for a reference point, the second to place the spotlight and the third for the target.
Then you can increase the size of the cone with the "Light Bulb size (Radius)" value. You can change the color, too, and of course also the hotspot and falloff angles in the "Spot" tab of the Light Editor.

And you can easily pick a new target point with Right click > Twilight > Set Light Target.

Now I feel guilty. That's mighty nice of you TIG, but unfortunately what I was looking for where a wee bit different. I would have been more specific had I known anyone would jump on this. I though there'd be something out there already.

I need to define the cone by angle and length - have the radius determined by that.
But, I can quickly tweak the plug you posted. It's got 99% of it there anyway.

                Cheers TIG!

I cobbled it together from other bits...
If you want me to make the adjustments I could do it for you tomorrow - let me know...

                    Thom

                    Here's 'conex' - conan's smarter brother.
it makes cones with the origin at the vertex and 'height' downwards, the angle is the 'apex-angle' NOT the 'slope'...#conex.rb
