by holding option + Shift with the eraser tool I can un-soften softened edges, but how do I un-hide hidden edges? option + Shift + eraser does not do it, so what does?

Menu > View > Hidden Geometry 'on'
Select the hidden edges you want to make solid again.
Use Entity Info > un-check 'hidden' [increase the dialog's height so you see all of the the check-boxes if needed].
Alternatively set some shortcut keys to Hide [H] and unHide [H+Shift] and use those...

          Hi folks.

If you want to quickly unhide all edges, you can also use Menu Edit --> Unhide --> All.

          Just ideas.
