[Plugin]$ Keyframe Animation
-
Still no answer, and now no compatibility with SU 2014. this is ridiculous, until the author starts responding I'd suggest not purchasing if you are contemplating.
-
Not sure where Doug is, but the plugin was updated about 2 weeks ago.

Thanks Jim, nothing noted on site, I sent an email regarding this and never got an answer.
-
Solo, if you're having problems with it running in SU2014 then let me know as I did some tinkering the other day and got it running.
-
Solo,
Frankly, I think your claims are ridiculous. I received an email from you today at 4 pm PST. One hour later, you posted this

These are distortions, if not outright lies. To say you never got an answer is just intentionally misleading. You might have mentioned that you only contacted me one hour earlier.
As Jim pointed out, the latest version is (and always has been) available on the download page. For you to say there was "nothing noted on (my) site", is another false statement. At the top of the download page it says, "Version 1.8.9 should be completely compatible with SketchUp 2014".
I didn't reply to your irresponsible post 6 months ago, when you claimed you found a bug, because it wasn't really a bug. If you want to explain what the "bug" is -- so everyone knows what you are talking about -- then I will explain why it isn't a bug.
If you -- a moderator -- are going to slander me, and tell everyone to not purchase my plugin, then it makes no sense for you guys to be selling it on SketchUcation. I suggest you remove Keyframe Animation from your Extension Shop. And if you want to remove it from the SketchUcation Plugin Store while youβre at it, that is fine too.

Seems That somebody got out of bed with the wrong foot! And that foot seems to have very long toes!
-
This is getting quite out of hand !
I have PM'd the author 'RP' with some [I hope] helpful advice about updating this thread's title to show either nothing OR the current version.
There have been no announcements by the author here of any updates, for almost two years !
The PluginStore's version is already 4 revisions behind !
And so that will not be v2014 ready ?
It needs updating.
I do not know what version his Shop download is - the product info is very scant.
-
Sadly Doug has requested that the KeyFrame Animation plugin be removed from the Shop where Premium members could avail of a 20% discount.
I would like to thank Doug for his generous contribution to the membership and wish him the best with his tool going forward.

I have a question about this Plugin - Keyframe animation. Can we make animation of scale objects? Thank you!
-
Short answer: yes
-
this is a fascinating addition for SketchUp.
I have the trial version at this stage and have been messing around with it with SU14.
However, can anyone tell me if it is possible to use PushPull in the animation, and if so how do I manage to execute it successfully ?
-
Only translations are supported. Move, rotate and scale.
You could get inventive and simulate a PushPull. But no actual support for mesh creation.
-
Well, from memory, there is a scaling functionality in the latest version. This would simulate push/pull on a simple object that didn't have features along its length. However, for a complex object this will just distort it.
-
Thank you Rich and Ashcott.
I'm sure I read somewhere on their website that it supported animated Push/Pull....but I can't find it.
Maybe I imagined it.....I really must stop eating those weird mushrooms...!!

I have always needed animation of some sort in SU.
I was an early adopter of Sketchy Physics but had a hard time climbing the learning curve. I dropped it after the author lost interest and was never heard from again.
I tried a few Key Frame trials; none worked as advertised, at least to what I needed.
I tried Simfonia but the user interface made it extraordinarily difficult to use. Dropped it as well.
Long ago I tried this Key Frame plugin (ver 1.2 I think) but it had a too short limited free trial to get used to it and animating SU models was not that important to me then. Now I am ready to try it again, but I have concerns.
I am not questioning the high quality and functionality of the authors work, but......The price is now more than doubled to US$39 ($52 Canadian), which is a significant chunk of change for me, especially considering the following.....
The author (RP) is showing tendencies to abandon this plug-in as has happened with Sketchy Physics, i.e:
- No communication for months on end,
- ignoring this forum (in a snit!), and
- the latest "update" was simply a policy change to registration that borders on paranoia rather than service.
If he abandons this plug-in, what happens when I need to transfer a registration if the registrar is AWOL?
If RP is generating quality SU plug-ins as a business (he IS charging for some of them) then he should understand that SketchUcation is his best available marketing tool and especially his FREE SUPPORT tool. A dedicated web page is nowhere as effective to both those advantages. On SketchUcation I can get multiple answers in hours, rather than wait for 1 answer from RP a few days later. And everybody learns; not just me alone.
I would also suggest that his pricing be more in line with other paid plug-ins. Right now it is one of the most expensive out there. He will earn more with higher volume sales. S/W costs nothing more to distribute in volume than in onesies and twosies.
Free trials should be on the order of a month. It takes time to learn the product and then create something useful before parting with cash. 7 days does not cut it.
Registration is a bit onerous as well.
- If not connected to the web, you are limited to 7 days offline use.
- Only a single computer? I have 2, my main dual screen PC that I do 100% of all my design work, and an ASUS note-book I occasionally use to show my work. The note-books screen is way too small to be really useful for design work, but sometimes I need to tweak a model for a better showing, away from my main PC and then reflect those changes in its Key Frame animation.
Why would I want to spend an additional Cdn$52 to use it maybe once a year?
ALL non-commercial work BTW.
Hopefully RP will read this and offer a reply. In the meantime, my purchase is pending.

Hi Regular Polygon
I am having problems with the free 10 day trial period. It has expired after 1 day on 2 machines I have installed it on? Has anyone else had a similar issue?
Cheers
Blake

Hello there. I have a suggestion. The group within the group should move. Please. Important.
