Which SketchUp version do you prefer/use..if an older version then why??

What info are you looking for?
Some might be SU7 pro users that need the pro features, but haven't afforded to upgrade to SU8. -
I generally use the most up-to-date version. I have older versions installed however and occasionally use them for specific tasks (like SU 6 for certain kmz export for instance).

I'm not bothered, and as long as it gets the job done I'll use any version that's put in front of me (as long as my plugin's work too!
