Share Example of Layout Construction Documents
-
I would give you one however I have never done anything in LO (beside "playing" with it and testing).
I am to produce my first ever LO document however but that will be in Hungarian. I know you would not have issues with reading it but your students may be bored with it.

susan,
I have just finished a set of drawings for a clubhouse and for a gate house. you can have them if you want. each set comes from a LO file that is about 70mb in size. you would have to send me an email address by PM so that I could send them to you via yousendit.
do not forget the language on them is portuguese, not english.
-
Edson, I can't thank you enough. You are so very generous in being willing to share such a large and laborious document. I very much appreciate it.
Translating the Portuguese will take me much less time than creating the Layout from Scratch. Thanks again. I will PM you an email address. -
Susan, You have seen John B's presentation of LO? It is the best tut I have been able to find and I think a very efficient and easily understood intro. Watching and doing while watching I think would be perhaps good for your purposes. If you have only 30 mins then it would seem you would want to start with a manageable doc with a limited number of playhandles.

I was very impressed by the quality of the jpg and pdf exports but cannot say the same about the dwg export.

Brooke, so sorry, I missed seeing your post with your suggestion. I am looking at the video as we speak. Thanks so much for pointing me to it.
-
You're welcome to use my house design. Slightly out of date file but all there; as displayed by @Last at the AIA show etc.

susan,
I am afraid that video is related to LO 1 or 2, in which john says it was not intended to be used with construction drawings... in the 2010 basecamp keynote speech he speaks at some length about LO 3.

Tim, thank you so much. I grabbed it. I now have a few in my arsenal as Mike was also kind enough to forward his.
Tim, I see you are in Vancouver. I am teaching in Vancouver next week on Wednesday and Thursday, arriving Tuesday after teaching in Victoria. Would love to have coffee if you are available! Just PM me.
Brooke thanks for the video link. I cannot actually use the Video in the class as people are expecting me to do the training but the underlying layout document used in the Video is a good one and I've asked someone at Google to dig it up and allow me to use it.
Edsun, you are right, since I won't be using the video that statement won't be an issue.
I will however be using your layout documents as the main training example that we will go through piece by piece in the class.Thank you all very much. You have all been very kind.

What happened to you, Susan?! Last time we were hanging out together, they were beers!
-
That must be your other Susan girlfriend!
I may just put some Bailey's in the coffee though, does that make me Csaba-worthy?
-
Ah, Susan, you know you are Csaba-worthy in any way!
I am also sorry that we had so little time together in BaseCamp this year (but yes, I know you were living elsewhere). -
I am on my third set, still not time efficient with it yet, but it is adaptive and flexible, in two of the projects I am having to make revisions, will see how that goes.....
aloha

The later presentation mainly is intended as an update regarding LO3 (starting around 1:12). The earlier one seems to me to be a better basic intro to the whole ball of LO wax.
-
Ah, Susan, that would be Vancouver Island. Which is, what, 70 miles off Vancouver? Thanks for the offer, much appreciated but sadly not one I can take you up on. Apart from anything else I'm seriously busy actually building the house! See http://www.rowledge.org/tim/building/building/blog.html for latest status.
-
Tim, oh, I didn't see the "Island" part. No matter I am in Victoria first 2 days next week so that could work. But if your busy, no prob. I"ll buy you a "beer" next time.
Thanks again. -
well guys this is a project that im working right now, this is the base idea of the projects.
