Thanks Mike!
That is just a test render. It will take a while to make a scene for it.
Thanks Li am!
Thanks tuna! I still have to make the scene for it.
Thanks Joe! Yes, the netting is there.
Thanks marked001! Just need to make the sails and propeller, but it's more or less finished.
Thanks Elibjr! It only took me twelves years to learn how to make this.
-
I'll post the models here as soon as I finished the sails.
-
No, really, I swear it's finished this time! Honest.
Artisan to make the sail covers. I am NOT doing the ties/zippers/whatever for the covers!
-
Here's the one angle I never showed. Yes, it really is that plain. That's what the plans show.

That is so funny and reminds me of myself as well.
Stunning, simply stunning mate

Bryan! You forgot the dagger boards!

Hey Bryan, I am not sure I would share the model, It was a lot of work and looks of very good quality. Have you considered putting the model on a site to monetise it? I just had a look for catamaran 3D model and there are lots of them for sale aon sites like https://www.turbosquid.com/Search/Artists/Vitaliy-Yakimenko (for instance) they seem to be selling for Circa $100 ea. I do not know what the market is for marine craft. Maybe just have a think before making it public
Who knows where it could lead. You would of course need to make it into other format, Blender, 3dS max, Maya etc but I do not think it would be that hard. Maybe you end up with 10 models for sale ( whole fleet) . I often look for models and find it hard to find quality models in SKP format. I also found a bit of furniture I moddled and shared, being monetised on a website, not the best feeling in the world and I felt stupid.
You could have a whole fleet up for sale.
Just a thought bubble -
That's what I did! After getting SUp maybe 22 years ago, I always created Plans for all my local projects before building them, and suddenly realized I could be selling them

Thanks L i am!
Thanks Joe! What's a dagger board?
Good suggestion about selling it. I may do that, but I do not have the software to convert it to anything else. But I may try just .skp.

I just found a flaw in the plan, not sure with your version of sketchup you are able to use it for commercial use

The purpose of the daggerboard (or any keel) is to balance the force of the wind on the sails. Without a daggerboard or keel, a sailboat could not sail up-wind and would simply be blown sideways. During a storm, daggerboards can help reduce the tendency of a small boat to tip over ("breach") due to waves.
almost all catamarans have these but with our trimaran we went with a full length fixed fin keel on our center hull.

you pull the DBs up (2nd image) when sailing downwind, because you don't need them then, and also to reduce drag.
Good education for those of who are not sailors.
