actually we yield to the right in America... if two people come to an intersection at the same time, the one on the right gets "right of way"... although that actually leads to a never ending politeness loop.

these types of roads with no signals seem like natural selection at work... survival of the fittest. the problem with these types of systems is that bully's tend to be rewarded for bad behavior. although I do like the idea of less traffic citations and people being responsible for their own safety. and then when people do have a wreck who is at fault? who pays for who's damage and who decides that?

our traffic system and traffic courts here in the states are packed to the brim... however I think the state and local governments like it that way... they make tons of cash off of it. and then those citations are directly linked to our insurance premiums so the insurance companies can get more and more money. seems like there is a lot of incentive for them to keep things stagnant and not working well... I'd love to see something tried out locally... I know one of our councilmen, I think I'll send this on to him.

That is a good question to think about Krisidious
I imagine that as far as we could drive that way in certain areas we would be able to realize that we are becoming responsible with us and with the others. We will have to learn how to deal with, when people do have a wreck and who is at fault, but maybe the camaras placed everywhere now in the cities will help for those cases to be taken into court.
Not easy. But I think it is a step forward in the path of being ourselves the actors of our lives in community applying the common sense.
          Cheers

In a civilised society this will work, but in reality I'm not convinced.

Here in Texas the one with the biggest truck forces right of way, so the above would never work, especially if you have a small car or bike.

We do not have many traffic circles as folk here do not have a clue what to do when they get to them, there was one down the road from me that had to be removed as the crashes and folks in trucks that went straight over the middle got out of hand, then again after New York, Dallas has the second worse drivers in America.

It all started when they put their steering wheels on the wrong side of the car. I'll let you figure out which one is correct!! LOL!

In Honolulu, we have a pair of 4 lanes, high traffic intersection without lights. There are stop signs all ways. It works most of the time, and as Solo mentioned, unless where might makes right. Now if this intersection were equipped with cameras, and tickets were issued for "no stop", and not not respecting "right of way", it might work in all cases.

we tried traffic cameras last year or so... then they were struck down constitutionally here in Missouri, and now they stand on top of poles unused. they also didn't affect our stop light running rates and failed to pay for themselves.

Most good drivers would pay more attention and slow down to "filter" but I think cell phones will need to be confiscated to make it work across the board, or perhaps a signal disabling device that goes on with ignition. 😉 Too many distracted drivers out there for me to feel safe.
