HOW CAN I SEE THUMBNAIL .SKP ICON in MAC OS X??

that took quite a bit of time to set up this mockup but, in my mind, google could easily(?) make this all possible
[and it's not quite a mockup.. those are the actual thumbnails of the files now.. only another 5000 or so skps to go.. see you all in december] -

The problem is that SU stores a really low res thumbnail png that is kinda worthless - made a .skp thumbnailer for TotalCMD on Windows some years ago
Another way is to create a thumbnail and store it in the same dir as the skp file at a bigger resolution and have a QuickLook plugin look for it and display it

ahg !! Now with 2013, the custom icon button is even gone from the "Save as" dialog.

For current readers facing fakircho’s “open every file and resave” problem or Jeff’s remaining library of thousands of files: I wrote a free extension, Mac SKP Icon Repair & Keeper 0.1.5, that repairs a folder and its normal subfolders without opening each model.
Install it, then use Extensions > Repair a folder of SketchUp Finder icons… . It copies the preview embedded in each .skp into Finder icon metadata without rewriting the model, and also restores the current model’s icon after ordinary saves. It cannot improve the resolution of an old embedded preview or create one where none exists; those files are skipped. It is not a Quick Look service replacement.

Tested on Apple silicon with SketchUp 2021–2026, not the old SketchUp/OS X versions discussed here. Intel hardware testing is unconfirmed. Folder repair requires Python 3 at /usr/bin/python3.
