It dawned on me the other day when Pete was asking about my modeling that I hadn't posted anything in the Gallery yet.
So, I'll try to post some stuff up at lunch over the next week or so to catch up my sketchup usage.

I'm a Design Architect. We (my firm) primarily use SketchUp for design work during Schematics as a fast tool to make frequent changes. Along the way Visualization has become important as well. Using Kerkythea, then Twilight and now Thea I am working on my photo realistic skills to convey the space to the client. Over the years clients have become more used to seeing photo realistic models and are now expecting that as part of the process...so we are working that into a typical design package. After the construction documents are finished we have been going back and using the drawings, Revit models to test the finishes and create final photo real images of their buildings and sometimes we hire out a 3d firm to compile a walk through to help promote the building if the client wants to pay for that service.

The first group of images are of a complex for Grand Praire, Texas - their new Public Safety Building and Senior Recreation Facility. We specialize in both of these building types. They are both situated on 5 man made lakes sitting on 1 square mile site.

        Public Safety building:
        Used SketchUp and Kerkythea.
        And finished building images.

              Thanks Eric.
I know that is not my best SketchUp renderings, was my learning stepping stone to Kerkythea. Hopefully I can redeem myself with the Court House I will be posting next...just on a deadline and couldn't touch it at lunch. πŸ˜„

Bryan~Texas, if you were in Bryan, Texas...hope you never have to visit our Project there...Bryan Justice Center πŸ˜†
I started working right when they were finished designing the exterior so I did some work on visualizing the interior...but that was pre-SketchUp (3dViz).

Rockwall County Court House - Currently under construction...
This one tested our design patience. Started design in early 2009 (March 2009) Over the course of this project in Schematics we probably went through 25-50 design iterations, some were really completely different from other.
We fought the Modern vs. Classical battle on this one and lost to Traditional...but detailed it in a modern way.
The following is a taste of the designs/models we produced for this project.

There was even a tower version that just didn't make the cut. πŸ˜†

This is where the plan landed (was extremely revised)

The rest were all modeled in SketchUp (with some Revit core parts) and rendered with Twilight.

I did a competition for Rockwall's Memorial - since I had an idea while designing the building, figured it was worth the time to enter the competition myself.

Great images and impressive body of work. πŸ‘ πŸ‘ Too bad the client opted for the Greek temple look, but you guys handled it well. The interiors are very well done.

Some of your earlier studies would have been more relevant to 2010. Is this building in a historic area that prompted their need for the 2000 year old look?
