I have a project of a flat landscape that I have drawn, the customer wants me to lay a grid over top of the drawing so that they can identify everything in a 3'x3' grid. I am new to sketch up and was wondering if there is a tool that can help me?

It's as easy to draw as it is to use some script...
In the model, draw a rectangle [away from all other geometry] - make it 3' square by typing in the size as 3',3'.
It will automatically make a face, you don't want that so single click on it and press the delete key.
Now you have a square made of four 3' edges.
Treble-click on an edge of this square and the 4 sides are selected.
Choose 'Make Group' from the Edit or right-click context-menu... and make it into a group.
Now none of this group's geometry will interfere with the rest of the model.
Double-click the group so that it opens to be edited - now all your subsequent work will take place inside this group.
Treble-click on an edge of this square and the 4 sides are again selected.
Use move+ctrl to copy them off to the side, using any edge's two end-points to snap to so you make a second 3' square touching the first [the 'shared' overlaid lines can't coexist so don't worry about them], immediately type in 9x and 9 copies appear, each spaced 3' from the other [obviously if you want something other than 30' total size adjust the NNx to suit].
Now you have 10 squares select them all by treble-clicking an edge and copy them, snapping at a right-angle to your last set, so you now have two touching rows, again immediately type in 9x and you now have a grid 30'x30' of 3' squares made from lines with no faces.
Exit the group edit.
Select it by an intersection of edges [corner] and then move it to a point where you want your grid to start from.
You can move it up and down too so that it appears just above the ground works - then when you make a plan it'll be visible above everything else... -
Thank you very much. This is an amazing program.
