Move multiple entities to z = 0 ?
-
I think I saw a solution to this a while back, but I can't find it now.
I have an imported CAD file that appeared to be 2d, but upon examination, the lines are spread out along the z axis.
Is there a way I can select all of these objects, and move them to z=0 with one command?
This is a "left" view of what should be a flat parking lot. The green axis is along the bottom of the image. I don't want to change the x or y locations of any of the objects.

if you have fredoscale, you can group them then scale them in the z to "0".

Perfect. Thanks.

its kinda silly that the SU scale tool won't allow 0 scale, but thanks to Fredo we have it!
Thanks again Fredo.

I think you are looking for 'flatten' - it's built-in the AutoCAD [Express tools] - flatten the CAD file before you import it... or in Sketchup something similar is available at Smustard.com. There's also Fredo's scale tool.
There are also other 'manual' alternatives - e.g. make a large flat rectangle face below everything, then use SUp's Sandbox > Drape tool to 'drape' the form vertically down onto the rectangle face - all lines are now 'flat' in the Z... Erase the original and the unwanted edges of the rectangle face...

If you have SU Pro, you can export a 2D plan view DWG, and re-import that
