      TIG:
As far as I can tell, a vote does not bump the thread in Active Topics. Does this mean that it will be buried further down as new topics arise?

I take the slow, deliberate approach in my aimless wandering.

The purpose of the poll is to see what percentage/total-number of 'regulars' got invites... As I personally knew of none [including myself] who had...
At the time of writing ~25% [EDIT} had been invited... which is hardly 'MANY regulars' as quoted by the Google guy... 😢 But then it only represents those that reply - perhaps more were invited and haven't said so, although I suspect many who weren't invited haven't replied too.......... 😒

PS: New posts links the poll...

Well, the percentage is somewhat irrelevant, as it would be heavily swayed by the literally tens of thousands of SCF members who didn't get an invitation...any one of whom could take part in the survey. More to the point is the actual number of people that did get an invite. This appears to be pretty small and is probably limited to people who have a long-standing relationship with the former @Last and who are personally known to John Bacus, Bryce Stout etc.
I'm one of them...but unfortunately I can't attend. I couldn't attend the Mountain View one either as it came barely a month after I'd flown all the way to Boston and back for the AIA...but I was a speaker at the original Boulder basecamp. It seems like John is looking for a max of 250 attendees, so maybe those of us that did get an invitation ought to go into a huddle and figure out who to recommend between us. Of course for that we'll need to know who actually wants to take part.

Were you required to walk 500 miles? Were you advised to walk 500 more?
You could be entitled to compensation. Call the Pro Claimers now!

In the same time, we can imagine that the people who has answered this poll are the one interested by the Basecamp. It means that we potentially have 28 people interested but not invited (at the time they answer the poll). That's typically my case and two of my colleagues. We have double check the budget and it's ok. But as we recognize that 3 out of 200 is a large number, we have decided to require an invitation for one (it has been sent in an other thread). Now if someone having invitation thinks that 3 from the same firm is not too much .... 😄

That actually happened to me once. I've still never forgiven my mother for it 😄

                  Chris

(True story, my mom, my sister and myself all have birthdays within 6 days of eachother in December. We used to have a group party for the three of us. One year, I just happened to stop by my parents house one night around that time of the year to find ALL of the rest of my family together, eating cake and having a good time. My mom totally forgot to tell me that everyone was getting together for our combined party....)

Lately you've been tan, suspicious for the winter.

Just been invited but had to decline - health (just recovering from a mild heart attack) and finances (or lack of!!). Would dearly love to be going but got a lovely kick in the chest over a fortnight ago and my docs have advised me to rest for a month or two. I have been checking in every once in a while to make sure you've all been behaving yourselves. I would have loved to have met up with some of you guys and had a pint or two with you but alas it will have to wait till Mike organises a "seisun mor" here in Ireland!!!

When you burn your arse - you gotta sit on the blisters!!

I earn my living by designing underwater equipment for offshore oil structures. I would like to attend the 3D Basecamp 2010, just to meet all the personnel involved in the development of Sketchup and plugins. However, not sure, just using SketchUp to earn a living is enough.

Note, I am not asking anyone for an invite, just curious if to be invited or to attend to the shindig requires you to be a script writer, rendering pro or some other qualification.

I think it is more about friendship
than anything else, nowadays 😒 but the Gurús will tell you
                            cheers Ken

At this point it is just about wanting to go. If you're intersted, speak up! You'll probably get nominated if you show interest in attending. I think there are still plenty of people around with nominations to hand out.

You don't need to be a pro scripter, modeling guru, moderator, anything. Just someone who wants to go hang out with other SketchUp geeks 😄

What I think is going to be so cool is finally attaching faces to names and posts from all of my sketchup Forum Friends. Sometimes even avatars don't tell the true story. For example I really don't look like Mighty Mouse--but I dont allow my picture to be taken because disseminating my image devalues it marketing potential and also it may compromise other agents in the field.

So if I do go to Boulder. . ..(Haven't been invited yet!) Look me up. I will be wearing a white dinner jacket with a red carnation. 💚

If I make it look easy...It is probably easy
