How do you download the SketchUp Components collection in bulk?

        Hi Cody,

Google has gone completely "online" with their bonus pack collections and wants everyone to use the component browser to download components (you can download so called "collections" but since you can only download 12 models at a time as a "collection", this is slow and clumsy).

The "old" SU 6 bonus packs are still online and downloadable however:

I see you are on an XP (so am I) so I can even suggest here: these files are packed as self installing exe files. By default, they want to install under the SU 6 > Components folder in the Program files. When you get there during installation, simply change the destination folder to your existing SU 7 folder and you should be set.

THANK YOU SO MUCH, both on here and through email. But of course, that sends me to mor questions πŸ˜„ ? By the old SketchUp collection do you mean those are models from the past? And is this the same way to download things such as SketchyPhysics? I've been having some trouble with things like this, seeing I'm only 13.

            Hi Cody,

Yes they are models from the past but are perfectly acceptable to use in v7.1. In fact, all this Component pack does is install a series of components in your 'Components' folder...
            C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 7\Components

When you select 'Window > Components' in SketchUp a dialog box will appear that will let you load these components into your model. You can also use SketchUp to browse the 3D Warehouse by choosing 'File > 3D Warehouse > Get Models...' and there you can download whatever you want straight into your model!

If your new to SketchUp I would suggest to download the user manual here

Also search YouTube for Aidan Chopra, he has got some excellent tutorials there!

As for SketchyPhysics, you can download the plugin here and find out more about it here

Download the free D'oh Book for SketchUp πŸ“–

I'm not new to SketchUp of all things. I've been playing around and making tracks for about a year now. But, that was just playing around without really learning anything other than what I found out. Here's my work: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/search?uq=0722992758326018911551200&scoring=m

And again, thanks for the help. Now that I look through it, I guess I didn't really need the components pack since it installs stuff that you could just download through the components window, which is where you have to import it.

Also, I've been viewing the ".. for Dummies" series for about a week. And feel free to look through my stuff.

I have not downloaded/installed them myself either. Maybe for some architects it can be useful but I am not one (and as I see your models in the Warehouse, you seem to be interested in cars and races yourself, too).

Yeah I plan to go into architecture and am currently running off-road karts. You can't beat those. I've gotten a max horsepower of a Toyota hyprid using my Hemi engine. But of course that's counting when the Toyota's breaks are working. 🀣

Anyway, I've been looking for somebody to do some tracks in SU with and maybe have it converted to 3DS MAX for a NASCAR Sim game. Anybody want to join in?
