3D Basecamp 2010!!!!!
-
I wish I could go, but the flight alone would be some $1800.
-
I got the okay from my office to attend yesterday...woohoo!! Just waiting on official confirmation from Google. Hopefully I'll be able to make the Tuesday dinner and meet everybody...(or meet again if we bumped into one another at the Googleplex).
-
Great graphic Ross, pity you can't stay for the week. We could do our normal tour around although I remember we did such a tour with Alan and Al the last time we were there.
-
I got a Golden Ticket!
Woo-Hoo!
Wish I could make it for the Tuesday night dinner so I could meet all you guys before the lessons start, but looking like I will fly in the morning of the conference to save a $100+.
Anyhoo...anyone else still needing a nomination, I got 10 and they have to be in by the 21st...so let me know.

The cost will be rather prohibitve coming from Europe for sure.
Is anyone from across Oceans for sure planning on coming out? Or would come out if they got in?
I got a pretty good deal, return flight for less then Β£500 and I only booked it this week! Still looking for hotels, think $100 a night would be my limit but dont seem to be able to get anything under $130 anybody got any ideas? Got my travel agent ringing round for me lol hopefully she will find something for me this week.

Best Western is β¬76 per night with continental breakfast. Think it's call Buff Lodge and it's around the corner from the event. I think a few could be staying there?
-
ok thanks ill check it out, pretty expensive I thought there owuld be an american version or travel lodge or something its easy to find one in the UK for less than Β£50 a night!

Quality Inn in Boulder is $125, but looks like you can get it down to $105 if you join rewards program (I think free?). They also have breakfast and make nice warm cookies in the afternoon. 6 blocks or so from Google.

Also a big group of 5 or so could get a 3BR cabin at Chautauqua for $200-275. You could step right out of your door for a nice morning hike and then have breakfast in beautiful lodge. Probably want a car to get around easier though.

so is there a form or something I fill out to nominate others? I have a friend who might like to go.

I think on the email we got there where 2 links, 1 form to fill out for yourself and one to nominate people but it has to be done soon I think?

Is anybody staying at the Hotel Boulderado? http://www.boulderado.com/ I will and I have a rental car, if somebody wants to carpool...lemme know. Got a great package deal through Hotwire.com

Does anybody know if there will be a lunch provided on friday ?
So as to help me decide on my departure flight time. -
the agenda says lunch . ..but doesnt mention whether or not it's provided. My guess since this is a no-cost affair. . you're on your own.
Heck. . .you'd think Google could shell out for a couple of pizzas or something. Geez.
-
Actually when the agenda says "Lunch" it likely IS provided. Part of Google's culture is to provide their employees with free lunches. They can't very well all sit down to eat and leave us, their guests, to watch. You can count on Google really treating us like part of the family.

i know .. i was just joking.

I agree Ross, I was treated like a rock star [almost ] when I visited Googles office in Sydney, Australia. Greta work environmentand hungry?, head down to the 'mess' and tuck in...
BTW, I've got a quote coming through today for flights from Australia. crossing fingers that the travel agent has worked her magic! If I'm in, I'll be looking to stay somewhere close by; don't mind getting out and about for a wander.....

Maybe it will be an un-lunch?? (huh?)
For me the big question is does Google's Boulder office have one of those $6000 toilet seats like the one the Googleplex has? ** Mayor Mike Lucey spent a lot of time in there at the last Basecamp and he always looked refreshed.** If Boulder has one I'm going to face my fear of electrocution and try it. It is nice to be pampered but I'm not sure about the shampoo 'down there' but the blow dry and styling function part sounds interesting.
-
Ross! You can't write that stuff while I have Diet Soda in my mouth! Now I have to wash my screen and keyboard.
Interesting mental picture, though.

Consider the Best Western like many of us. It is easier on the budget than most Boulder hotels and should make it easy to find other participants to hang out with.
