), I must say that I think this is a terrible design. Sorry.Out of curiosity, how long have you been using this product? Because in my experience, after a year of constant use with this type of 'easy armchair' design while doing my degree, I developed chronic pain in my arms and neck, eventually ending up with a frozen shoulder- something I really don't wish on anyone- including my enemies!! It was 4 months of physiotherapy that finally fixed the pain. Having a decent ergonomic work table since then, the problem hasn't come back.
Why is this type of design bad? Because where is the armrest? Are we supposed to hold our arms up to reach to the laptop keyboard? I would guess that this is one of the main reasons why Apple have yet to make a touch-operated iMac (despite the demand for one). The ergonomics on this contraption are awful. The design may look and feel great to start, but you will ([lease believe me) start experiencing problems pretty soon after constant use. The mouse position is okay, but then you have to keep raising your arms to connect to the keyboard, then bringing them back down again to use the mouse, or even worse getting fed up with this (which will happen), using the built in track pad instead. That is wrong. In fact laptops on the whole are a really bad idea- and one of the main reasons many companies won't supply them any more.
If there was any way you could possibly improve the table, It would be far better to have another shelf which holds a separate keyboard, as well as another for the mouse. But then you may as well just use a proper table, because of the amount of equipment you then must remove from in front of you whenever you need to move from your seat. ie you must push the whole contraption, wires and all, away from yourself in order to get up from the chair! Bad move.
Don't be silly. Why risk your back and neck for this kind of design? Invest in a decent chair, with decent armrest support and lumber support, and get a proper desk!
I'm sorry if I've upset anyone, but I could have done a masters degree in this subject! I don't want to annoy anyone, but then again I don't want people to loose out on work because their ergonomic setup is bad either.
One last word, my wife is CIPD qualified. Ros is an HR manager with upper corporate management, and much of her work involves finding correct ergonomic solutions for the company's employees, including what was once known as RSI. Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) was a term coined about 10 years back, but contrary to popular belief, the term 'RSI' is in fact a myth. RSI which it is still called, despite not really being the correct name for it, is caused by poor or bad ergonomic set up- something many employers in the past (and now) have been (are still) guilty of.

Hi Tom,
I've got one of these tables and honestly it's great for late night casual browsing in the sitting room. Not for working at for hours but for lounging it's ideal.
It tucks neatly into the couch and it height adjustable so I find that typing is a breeze. Now I know I'll end up with some back complaint if I exposed myself to this longterm. But I don't sit at it for hours.
Nice to hear the designers opinion on it though and medical advice as an added bonus!

Rich beat me to it. Showing the Lounge-Book being used with a seat / chair is probably not the best demonstration of its use.
I use mine, like Rich, laying back on my sofa with my feet on the coffee table. As far as the ash tray goes, I have this located on the sofa arm! Its also great when surfing in bed!
I must tell the Lounge-Book guys to show the product being used in these situations.
