    How do I create new texture in the Paint Bucket Tool?

      I am modelling my house which has fibrous cement tiles (Eternite) on its outer wall front side (facade). Therefore, I want to be able to use a material/texture in the Paint Bucket Tool that correspond to the fasade. It does not appear to excist a predefined one so therefore I would like to create one myself. I would be very happy if someone would instruct me step by step on how to do this (do I need a plugin?). I attach a small model showing the facade (this is drawn line by line).

        If you draw every 'slate' you are increasing the amount of geometry alarmingly.
        If you have an image - .jpg or .png of an area of such cladding then you can use that over the larger area and it will show the 'joints' and 'laps'.
        It's best if you can find a 'tiling' image - one that doesn't show its joins as it repeats - there are many links to 'texture' image sites on this forum - do a search - Eternit might also supply suitable images on their main site ?
        To make a new texture use the Material Browser tools.
        Make a new material colored the 'gray' you want and apply it to the walls etc.
        Edit that material and give it a 'texture' - browse to where you have saved your image file.
        You'll probably need to change the size of the texture in the edit - you can unchain the proportions if needed.
        With View Texture Mode all of your 'gray' walls should now show the texture.
        If you want to adjust the position of the texture or rotate it say 90 degrees select a face and right-click Texture > Position etc and play around with where it starts or its angle etc.
        If you have several faces that need this 'rotated' texture then use the eyedropper tool in the Materials Browser to sample one and then paint-bucket those faces you want to share it - it's quicker than doing it each face individually...

          Thanks Ketchup for asking the question I also wanted to ask and thanks TIG for answering it.

          One thing I found is that with the standard cherry wood texture and a small cabinet the coloured handles are not visible until you zoom out quite a lot. Zoom extents doesn't seem to recognise texture sizes. Is there something I have missed to make it simpler?

            Thanks for your reply TIG and chrisglasier!

            The advise I got made me find a good (in my opinion) solution.
            I did as follows:

            1. I created a texture the way i wanted it on a surface in sketchup, line by line
            2. Paralel projection/perpendicular view/ Export 2D-graphic. Now i have the jpg image, taylormade exactly the way I wanted it!!!
            3. Open jpg in any imaging software/crop the geometry to get rid of the marigins not belonging to the geometry/Save (one have to crop in a smart way to avoid getting extra lines at the joints)
            4. In sketchup: paint a surface/edit/Use texture image/brows and select the jpg file just created
            5. rescale if nessesary
              6)Voala!
