          I was absolutely convinced the colours were different in the examples....I even took screenshots-but they are the same!! the rubiks cube example just melts my brain! the colours appear completely different! aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh! ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

              Back in the early 80s when I was in Fine Art school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, I was shown a series of hand painted cards that showed the color illusions very well. The name of the artist who painted them escapes me but it was a powerful thing to see.

                Jasper Johns played with color illusions a lot.

                One of his more famous is an american flag that was green, orange, and yellow. Stare at it for a few minutes and then stare at a white wall and you'll see the red, white, and blue.

                  Josef Albers.... classic art school and fine art training. If you have access to the originals or a hand printed copy - they are incredible.
