IM currently just playing around with a model from 3d warehouse and want to put in a fabric folding sunroof on a vw kombi.

I tried the intersect tutorial on the sketchup website but it didnt work for this one.
I want the sunroof to be oppen aswell like this http://www.diecastauto.com/catalog/images/92327-Black-web.gif

Don't know why intersect didn't work for you? But try the following -
if you're familiar with plugins, Fredo's Tools On Surface will allow you to draw a rectangle on the roof. It will allow you to radius the corners. Once drawn you can select the face and press delete.
You'll find the plugin in the plugin forum, try the Visual Index thread at the top it's packed with other plugins that do the possible!
The canvas roof is a little bit more difficult but achievable. Chris Fullmer's Loft plugin ( again it's in the plugin forum ) would do the trick nicely. Or TIG's Extrusion Toolset would suffice.
Read through each plugins thread to see how to install and use. And post back with any further issues.

Hi Scott eyre, hi folks.
For the intersection to work, you need to draw the cutting shape in the same context as the car. Normally, such components comes in as ... you guessed it ... components.
Then, enter the component editing context with a double click. After that, you can draw the required shape inside the component context and then perform the intersection.
See this SU file for ideas.
