Texturing in sketchup--tips?
-
I've given up trying to texture in Sketchup and I only do it now when flat images on a 2D polygon are involved. The texturing tool is cumbersome and insufficient.
It's even difficult to resize to the correct size with those tools, never mind wrapping around anything but a flat geometry.
I do have the cylinder-texture and spherical-texture extensions, but my objects are usually not cylinders or spheres!
Does anyone have any tips on extensions or perhaps even special texturing add-ons or other programs I could use?

read this post for better uv mapping in SU. This is as good as it gets I'm afraid. But others use Blender to achieve desired results as it's uv mapping is highly recommended. I've no experience with Blender yet but intend to check it out soon.
I feel your pain though
