RodWhy do you need to resize them they should be 'full-size' ?
When you place them it is like any other component - use the snaps and guide-tools etc ? -
If they are built to the right scale, and you are working at the right scale, you should not have to rescale them. And as for placing them....well you have to let SU know where they go somehow.
Do you have a sifferent placement system in mind?

Hi
Do not have snap tool... i presume this is part of the Sketchup PRO 7 .. which i do not have
Also when downloading from the warehouse ,i always get the components in different sizes and have to re-size . This is with plants some of which are much larger than the whole model .. yes the model is the correct size

I suspect the downloaded models were done in large scale to avoid the tiny triangle problem and the possibility that the author was not concerned with real scale, but only "how it looked" overall. Apparently, many modelers do this.
As for placement of an inserted component, what I do is move it from where it first appears by moving along the x, y, z consecutively until I get it close to final destination and then zoom in, grab a point on the component and place it at its final destination, perhaps a point on some other point of the model, or on a guideline intersection. This may not be THE way to do it, but it works well enough for me. -
Hi Rod,
Every component has an insertion point. This point is the component's axes.
Normally, the axes is placed at one of the component's corner.
Use this point as the focus when placing a component to your model.
When you place a component and the insertion point seems placed in the middle of the component. Most probably, the axes is still at the component's corner, but you view it from the opposite side.
Insertion points in Dynamic Component behave differently though.Harrynov
