SketchUp versions of Arroway Textures
-
Yes, definitely. Even good for (not too close-up) renderings.
But special thanks Al for clarifying that they can (now) be used in commercial projects (although they would obviously take it as courtesy if one bought them for this purpose). -
I see I messed up the names a bit - I will make a new set tomorrow. These will work just fine, except for the names.
Let me see some of the models you create.
-
yes, the names would be essential as the bump and specular maps need to match so that people can find them easily from thumbnails...

Here is one of the typical names now:
stone-002_Arroway-lo-res-Arroway-low-res
It is usable, but it it would be better if it was
stone-002_Arroway-lo-res
Which is what I intended.
The stone-002 is the important part, since it matches Arroway's terminology

To neb in...
I have a very quick batch filename fixer 'Lupas Rename' and I've already fixed all of my .skm's to suit... BUT it's 24Mb zipped - so how did you 'upload' such a big file onto the forum in the first place ? I see it's linked back - do you want me to email you a copy - my limit is email 20Mb but I can split it... ? -

I renamed one of the .SKM files, but it still shows up with the funny name when I browse for materials in SketchUp in "List" mode.
I see that the name of the material is also contained in the .XML files which are zipped into the .SKM file:
document.xml: <mat:material colorBlue="121" colorGreen="137" colorRed="143" colorizeType="0" hasTexture="1" name="boards-001_Arroway-lo-res-Arroway-low-res" trans="0.5" type="1" useTrans="0">
documentProperties.xml: dp:titleboards-001_Arroway-lo-res-Arroway-low-res</dp:title>
Does your script alter the .XML files as well?
If not, then it would be better if I recreate them.
(The .ZIP file is stored on another web site, and only linked to in the original post.)

I see the problem - sorry but needs to be done from scratch to get the innards right...

I have uploaded a new version, with better names. Arroway Texture Set
If you have already downloaded the old version, you will want to remove the Arroway folder in
C:\Program Files\Google\Google SketchUp 7\Materials
-
Hi Al,
I finally got to downloading the whole pack (and thanks again).
However it seems that under the "Plasters" folder, there are no materials. Did you just miss them or weren't the materials available for download in free/low-res version? -

Did you just miss them or weren't the materials available for download in free/low-res version?I made all those categories myself by saving the materials from SketchUp and saving them as a collection, and then moving all the materials into sub-folders. The plasters are all under Masonry, if you want to move them.

Okay, thanks! That makes sense and of course, I can arrange them as I wish.

Let me know if these work for you, and I would love to see an image up here on the forum if you have anything to show.
We are also going to market a full resolution version of these 100 materials, along with the bump and specular maps for use with 3rd party rendering engines, for about $100.00 if anyone is interested. (You can purchase the full texture pack from Arroway for less money, but some people may be willing to pay a few $$ more for a SketchUp ready (and, of course, IRender nXt ready) version of the high res textures.)
-
Any chance these texture collections are still online somewhere? The links you posted are now dead.
Thanks!

I found and uploaded the original file arroway.zip to
However, it seems to have the "double" file names.
Gaieus, or anyone else, if you have a copy of the file with the corrected file names, send it to me (a 24 meg email is no problem), and I will upload it instead. (al.hart AT renderplus.com)

Thanks... looking forward to the final version.
-
The ones I uploaded should work - they just have funny names.
-
The last post or the first post file?
-
I am pretty sure they both point to the same place:
-
This is great! Thanks a lot. I can deal with the funny names.
