      Hi-
Brand new to Sketchup and to this forum. From the look of the posts I'm in expert hands.
I'm interested in SU for woodworking. I just started drawing a bed frame to build. The other day a few of the faces of the footboard component changed color to a greyish, slightly darker color from the default tan after I'd edited the component. Can't seem to figure out why. It's not the dark grey found on the inside of a form. Almost looks like it is in shadow, even though it is on the lit side of the model.
      Any ideas?
      Thanks

        Hi Jed and welcome.

Well, it can be many things from innocent to annoying - could you upload an example file (or at least an image/screenshot)?

(Below the text area you answer, there is the attachment tab)

Oops, I should have thought an example would be helpful-
I will upload the file as soon as I get to my home computer- thanks!

Here's the model attached. Thank you for the help!
Jed(I just put some walls in to let the shadows fall on something)

              It faces' 'inside is out'.

Now that's a contradiction. Guys, at the end you make me download that model myself.

OK, downloaded and indeed, back faces. I believe all are oriented now correctly (and a bunch of faces were also missing).

BTW you should make all repetitive elements components (legs, bed end pieces etc).

Oh! I get it, even if I don't know how I did it. Thank you for the input, TIG and Gaeius. Gaeius, thank you very much for making the fixes. I did it on my end, too, to make sure I understood what you did.
                Best wishes,
                Jed

You know, I don't like doing the job instead of others but when I saw it ready, I thought it would be so mean not to upload. πŸ˜„

But indeed, do it yourself to learn, too.
There is another topic right now about face orientation - you may find it interesting:

                    It faces 'inside out'.
Edit it and 'reverse' one or two faces, then select one face and 'orient' as they are all facing out...
                    Fixed.
