Hi folks , this is my first post to the forums, I have been trying to do a Model of a PVC Loop green house, I have the plug-in "Tube Along Path" which works very well. Question is the ark I start with does not have enough segments to make it look like a smooth curve. Any way to make more segments in the ark tool?

        Hi Eddy,

        There are more options:

        • after you make the arrc, right click > Entity info > and change the segment number there
        • after you select the arc tool, type the number you wish the segment count be and hit Enter - then click to start your arc
        • after you drew your arc, type the number again followed by an s and hit Enter (like 24s Enter)
Whatever you change it, it will remain the "default" for that SU session (or until you change it to something else).

I also have an arc question.
When drawing an arc at a corner of a rectangle "sometimes" I can get an inference where the arc turns bluegreen infering a tangential alignment with the side of the rectangle. Often I have trouble getting the inference. Whats the secret to getting the inference more consistantly?

Well, hopefully Wodan willalso turn up as we had a very fruitful conversation a couple of years ago about when we do and when we do NOT get the tangential inference.

Very briefly speaking - when the endpoints you are trying to infer, are also endpoints of edges that define a face of a 2D a shape (say rectangle typically), this inference is often (or always) missing. Have a look at these screenshots:

The exact case I mentioned above - no inference.

            Inference1.png
If I try to infer to the midpoint, there is inference.

            Inference2.png
Also, if I delete two of the edges (so there is no face to define), there is inference.

            Inference3.png
It seems like a bug but in reality, in the first case, SU may not decide which edges to infer to and this might be the source of the glitch 8it's been like this since at least version 5).

Of course, the list of possible scenarios is much more complex (you can introduce guides which make it more interesting and sometimes working, sometimes not), but this may give a basic clue.

Thanks you Gaieus. I thought I was doing something incorrectly.

The "tube's" arc can have as many segments as you tell it to have in the startup dialog - just set at the same time as you set its radius etc.. [I wrote TlongP...]. It's almost impossible to reset an arc's segments AFTER it has connected non-planar faces - just get it right at the start... That fixes the tube's cross section...

You set an arc's segments during its creation typing NNs as you make it - e.g. 12s => 12 segments, 99s => 99 segments.

To reset an arced path's segments AFTER you have drawn it simply select it and get Entity Info and type a new number for the segments - IF the arc has connected 3D faces [i.e. non-planar] you cannot then change the segment numbers...
