How would one model this?
-
Hey guys. I'm currently working on a Uni project and I have a large curved facade that I thought I could create with the Soapskinbubble plugin, but I'm finding it more difficult than I thought.
Below is a pdf of the plans and elevations of what I'm trying to create (just the curved bit). If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Your PDF is broken and won't load and be readable.
There are several ways of making a curved façade.
Depends on how it'll curve - Chris Fullmer's BenderTool will bend a flat façade or my ExtrudeEdgesByRails will make a doubly curved façade...
Try reposting the PDF - you can attach it directly here ,if it's not too big... -
The .pdf opened for me. What is the structure going to be? It's a very odd juxtaposition against the traditional architecture.
For modeling, you may want to try the Soap Skin Bubble plugin - http://www.tensile-structures.de/sb_software.html

Thanks Tig.
Don't know why the link doesn't work for you. It works fine for me... I've attached it directly this time. Hopefully it works.
I'll try out the other plugins! Thanks!

PDF works now.
Soapskin Bubble might not be up to this !
Look for Sculpt... -

It's going to be a centre for contemporary culture in Amsterdam. Architecturally, I've tried to create a sympathetic structure to the canal adjacent to the site, but having a solid structure towards the busy and noisy street. The structure itself is suppose to be a representation of the water.
I didn't think of using sculpt. Thanks!

Yes the structure would be faceted, using flat panels. I already have Subdivide and Smooth, but looking at Sculpt, I think using Sculpt and Sandbox would be the more ideal solution.

Also look at 'SubdivideAndSmooth' which could take a roughly blocked out massing shape and smooth it for you into a more rounded form.
Presumably the actual building might be somewhat faceted as it could be made out of 'flat' panels ? -
Subdivide and smooth, but use it only on three sides of the shape. Make it a bit larger than you need, then use large boxes to intersect with your shape to make your S+S shape have square edges that connect with the rest of the building.

Hey guys. I've modelled this and posted the images here. After my crit, I have altered the design slightly and I need a far more accurate model of the skin. Essentially it'll be the same as the framework as the Great Court of the British Museum.
I initially modelled it with SoapSkinBubble, but now I've looked at Tig's EEbyRails and Lines2Tubes to make this but I still have no idea how to make it using EEbyRails.
I've taken the outline of the bubble and now struggling to make it.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/445006/Outline.skp - Here is a link to the outline of the building
If someone could help me, I would be extremely grateful! I want something like what Tig made in this topic.
Thank you!!
