Well, we've been able to do this via chat and such until now, right?
OK, this is "rich chat" with embedded other documents or even videos but what else? -
I think most importantly it is an open protocol to build the base of future communication.
one important feature is for example, that conversations don't have to be linear. we see that on this forum quite often, that some people are discussing slightly off topic things, due to the technology of the forum embedded in the linear flow of the thread.
with wave however this off topic conversation could simply build another branch in the conversation, leaving the main topic undisturbed. it could be discussed in that off topic branch until it just ends or it becomes such an interesting topic of its own, that a new wave is dedicated to it (with a link to this new wave at the end of the side conversation).I know, that needs some getting used to and it only works as long as people really stick to certain rules. but even in a simple chat situation with my girlfriend it proved quite useful already...

Hehe... My GF could never get around wave I believe. She hardly uses Gmail and GTalk at all.

you would have to search for it. and thankfully Google Wave provides us with mighty search tools.
first, we know, that its a public wave. therefore we should type into the search field:
with:public
we also know, that SCF occurs in the title. therefore we also type
title:SCF
into the search field. then we hit the search button. and theoretically you should find the wave.
(sorry for lecturing like that. I am just so delighted by these search options

yeah, its really cool. now I could go to Google Wave and look for any waves with
with:Csaba AND bruhahaaa
and then I could see, how many times you burst out laughing...
(to be precise, I would have to enter your full wave adress, not only your name...) -

you are welcome, Marcus. oh, and if you read the document Remus suggested, you will find many more useful search commands...
by the way, Remus: when I read the guide and they mentioned that the name was inspired by the Firefly series, I was sold. after that I am absolutely convinced that Wave is the future!
(and who knows, maybe that will trigger the production of a second firefly season...) -

Last time I checked I had about 15+
I know Plot Paris started a public SCF wave but all is quiet these days. What about your Wave Jim?

I check wave about once a month.

I rarely if ever log into it.
But in the developers wave server, they just introduced a bot-addons area where you can find bots and stuff. So that mgiht start making Wave more interesting if it becomes easier to locate useful bots and addons. I have not looked into it yet though,

I've got a little widget in my windows toolbar that notifies me once I've got a new wave. its faster than e-mail, quite convenient.
I chat with my girlfriend quite regularly on wave. its pretty cool, because she can just write me a wave during the day. when I come home, I reply to it - and if she happens to be online, it turns into an instant messaging conversation...of course the true potential becomes obvious, once you use it with several people at a time. then its better than mailing, because everyone can contribute to the same document. and it is superior to chatting (e.g. Skype) because you can have one main document with all the gathered information and countless sub-conversations where you discuss the different points..
of course it needs some getting used to, to find your way through several parallel conversations.
but I think the technology is highly promising. -
