Guys, how wide are skyscraper floorplates, and parking floorplates?
Oh, and which is the width of a skyscraper glass? ( glassy skyscraper) -
Hi there
I only know that the glass boxes on the Willis Tower in Chicago can bear five tons of weight, and they are about 4 cm thick. -
The answer is, "What do you want it to be ?"...
Seriously though - 'walls' can be 4" to 12" thick, but the glass will usually be double-glazed units 1"-2" (even 3-4") thick depending on their size and exposure...
The floor-plate depth mainly depends on the client's functional requirements. If natural lighting is important then ~25' it's from a window for a workplace: for views out say ~40' - otherwise it doesn't matter much... You'll want no part of the floor-plate to be more than 100' from an exit and 40-60' from a exit if there is no alternative route separated by 45 degrees. If corner offices are their thing then a serrated plan floor is needed to increase their numbers... The [usually] centralized core[s] containing exit-stairs, elevators, service rooms etc will vary in size depending on the floor-plate area [more area can mean more people, more elevators, more toilets] and the building's height [higher can mean more/bigger elevators, means more core footprint etc] - typically let's guess at 15% of the floor-plate...
