Need Help with spiral shape

Well I need help with a project...
As you can see in the attachment 1 I have made a spiral shape with little slots/pockets using tape and wire.
After long hours trying to create the spiral used in my project I finally managed to make it in sketchup as you can see in the second attachment. In the third attachment you can see pockets I made in sketchup, which I then tried to make a similar pattern as in the real project. However thats where the problem begins... I dont know how I can rotate or make the pockets go along the spiral just like the photograph...Any suggestions?

Thank you for the links, really helpfull... I tried the components stringer and I thinks thats the most usefull one since I got what I wanted... I think... I still need to play around with it a little bit but have a look in the attachments....
The first attachment shows the try n error stages... but the second attachment shows a little bit more succes... The one on the right is what it looks like right after the plugin places the components along the spiral. It then hit me that they are all components connected tohgether so I only have to rotate one in order for them all to rotate.I keep you gusy updated on that,
