firefox doesnt open from within sketchup, can anybody help.
thanks. -
Sketchup uses IE on windows and Safari on the Mac. There is no way around it,

You're welcome. Sorry the news is not what you (or I) wanted to hear.
But making it so that SketchUp always uses InternetExplorer or Safari makes it easier to know how to write scripts for SketchUp that use a web navigator window. A programmer does not need to worry about making their script FireFox, Opera, etc, compatible. Just worry about IE. So it simplifies things for programmers I suppose.

Easiest would have been to use the same browser engine for both platforms. Firefox can be embedded to applications like IE. Firefox however works on both platforms.
But alas...

I keep thinking they will use SketchUp as a platform to deliver Chrome into millions of computers. I think web dialogs in Chrome, on both platforms, would be sweet!
-
Yea, now that Google got their own browser that would have been an option. But I doubt it's anything they can change now. Too many plugins are built upon the quirks of IE. But at the time of SU's release I'm pretty sure Firefox embedded was available.
unless, there's an optional argument to create a Chrome-Webdialog...

thanks. When you say Firefox won't open... are you talking about webdialogs here? Or about internet links in Sketchup? If it's opening an URL then Su should use the system default browser.

It wouldnt connect to the help page, but it does now using IE as default.
-
Hm. If you mean the Help > Help Center menu item, it opens my Firefox sweetly.
-
likewise in mine.
