Sine Wave Around a Cylinder?
-
I'm drawing a blank. I think I ought to know how to work out the geometry for this but I've forgotten. I want to draw a sine wave around a cylinder. I'm specifically after 5 cycles in two revolutions. Any ideas?

draw your sin wave, use fredoscale->radialbend with 12 segments to bend it to a half circle, copy and scale to make a full circle, align to an existing cylinder and scale to fit.
Youd have to mess around with the number of cycles a bit to get what your after, but it should work.

...or use shapebender.

Thanks Remus. I forgot about Fredo's Radial Bend. Off come my shoes and socks to figure out the math.

Thanks BTM. That'll work, too.

... it's not a real sine function, just showing the groups in groups of what to do. take 1.25 cycles, use shape bender with the line just as long as them, on a half circle, then use this 1.25 cycles 4 times to get 5 cycles, in 2 turns.

Thanks guys. I did this with Fredo's Radial Bend and Follow Me.

hey dude, , very nice !!
