    Question about the emissive option in Vray

      How do I get rid of the shadowy spots that appear on the walls of the image? I have tried to lessen the intensity of the emissive layer, right now it is at 50. Are the spots showing because of the intensity, should I lower it to 10 or less? I also have an omni light illuminating right in the middle of the four objects as a secondary source of light... any ideas on how should I go with the emissive option?? This pic is just me playing with vray... still trying to learn the software

        Emissive materials should not be used as primary light source. Use omni or rectangular lights as primary.

          thom thom is correct. they should not use as primary lights. but it can be done. try this if you are persistent in using only emmisive lights. Use Irradiance as your primary engine and Light catche as secondary. turn off camera and turn off all lights and sun. make your hsph subdivision pretty high froom 300-400 and samples to 100... make the adaptive amount of your imagesampler as 0.85.
          the good thing is when using emissive light without the physical camera. you will only give your emissive multiplier a lower amount.

            What was the render time?
            Usually it'll be much slower to make emissive materials look good than using real light sources.

            I also read that placing sky portals near the emmissive materials will force the rendering engine to sample the emissive light better-

                i remember this was one of my first render with vray using only emissive lights more than two years ago. at that time vray has no even a manual.

                    But it's still the same!

                    Now with a rectangular light it's really better.
