[REQ] con. point at intersection
-
i ran a search and couldnt find anything, but is there a pluggin that could place a construction point at the intersection of a line and a face as per my attached pick, i imagine it would be simple enough to code, can anyone help me out?
-
So, you select a bunch of lines and faces, and you want a construction point if the edges intersects the face? But not if the edge stops at the face?
-
hey lets get crazy... why not
, but desperatly need those construction points at the intersection

Ah, seem that we worked in parallel TIG. http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?f=180&t=20262
My version is slightly different in that it only places CPoints if the edges intersects the faces. No projection.

Now spoilt for choice...
Mine adds all selected lines' AND clines' intersection cpoints onto selected faces' planes [note that mine undoes in one step]...
thomthom's adds selected lines' cpoints onto selected faces and ignores off-face intersections...
Make your choice...

Urrrh! that was my intention. But I just realised I forgot to perform that check. Currently it will place points if the edges intersects the face's plane. I'll sort that out.

Thank you both for the lightning quick response, u made me a happy sketchupper... was mulling in my hatred for skecthup when i posted that request

What do you actually need the points for?

needed to make a linear loft type surface, just found a tutorial on how to do it in max with splines, but for my purposes i think this would work better than in max with splines.
i made a linear shell from 2 stiched curves then extracted the lines which i then needed to intesect with faces to create a decent mesh (sketchup hates decent meshes
) needed to points to create a surface with a plugin from the archi-land toolbar "surface from points" (or something).
