V-ray - creating a volume
-
Hi, is it possible to create a volume in sketchup? I need for vfSU.... I want to apply fog to my water material. If it's not possible is there a plugin to create volumes?
thanks in advance

I don't understand what you mean by creating a volume.
Are you referring to atmospherics, for rendering?
VfSU2 might include atmospherics. In VfSU, you have something called Fog in regards to refraction; allowing you to colour transparent materials. I don't suppose you're refering to this?
Also, what VfSU version do you use? Original, SR1.0 or SR1.5?

I mean if u make a cubic form it not a volume but build out of faces. So what I want to do is applying fog to my water so if u look through the water can see a a blueish effect. I don't know what version I'm using I can't have a look because I'm not home.
thnx for the reply

SU is a pure surface modeller. Only faces and edges. But when you have a cube, apply a material with 100% transparancy, add a reflection, then add a refraction layer where you add colour tint by setting the Fog colour. You might want to turn down the multiplier if it turns out to intense colour. Subtle values when it comes to Fog is the key.
What kind of water is it? Glass of water? Or sea water? If it's sea water I'd go for a different approach, as the blueness doesn't come from the water, but from the reflection of the sky.

It's an indoor swimming pool water.. I tried fog with different multipliers but I hardly see any difference. For pool I don't need fog? and I don't need a volume either for a good water effect?
thnx for the reply and also on asgvis website.
