Robobobo in progress
-
We are feeling the time pressure so we won't go in too deep with the renderings. But some glossiness here and some light there and it can still make a nice impression.
We will try to make it more lifelike and pump our skills on how to render stuff later on. For now on Iโm struggling with this render, as SU crashes when vray tries to render big images. -
Great rendering! It adds a whole nother dimension to the model. Great Job man.
-
have a look at Hypershot for the rendering It would do a nice job with this subject matter.
-
Another test render

Fantastic!!

nice video, dude! it really showcases all the work and detail that has been put into this model. great stuff. I would love to see it in a pale desert or in a city environment (you can find some free hdri maps here).
thank you very much for sharing this. makes me want to lay my hands on SU again and push my personal limit a bit further (not that its that high anyway )

Revealing the mesh.. Do I want to?
The robot is meshed too heavy. I did not want to spend the time I had to make a good mesh for it, just max it out (we had not enough skills in other words). Actually we did not intend to make the whole robot at first. As the project went on we continued using the massive amount of mesh on the parts.
Now Iโm trying to reduce the mesh and use components better.(about 13 times less mesh), thinking about the whole picture and then focus more on better materials and the use of hdri maps and such. The end will probably be to make the thing move, the reduced mesh will really help me outThx for the link plot-paris!
And ofc thanks to all for the nice comments! -
Wow, very impressive design, I love the contrast between the sleek, polished plates, and the 'nasty mechanical bits'.
-
New pose and some photoshop
-
!!!! That's Incredible!!!!!

Cool robot but image is some dark!
Do you work on Mac? -

Do you work on Mac?Thanks. I didnt realize it was dark since i did it on my pc laptop. But im still experimenting with it, trying to learn about rendering etc. Will paste more pictures as it evolves.
-
... I didn't find it dark... then again, most renders i've done, i've had people tell me they were too dark aswell...
-
Looks pretty sweet there. Reflections look good aswell
-
Looks too shiny to me, it looks to much like a plastic toy, maybe if you try a different ,aterial for the armour it will look more real.
-
Ha, have not ben working with bagar in a while but i knew your experimenting with new mappings. I like the pose, it shows that the modle is flexible in the way I hoped we could make him. Im still working on reducing the mesh and when thats done I think me and bagar will sitt down and work out some renders in enviroments. Will be looking in to the reflections and lots more, but for now gj and keep on experimenting untill we meet bagar.

Hi there!
this is a quick "what happend" post. For those who cares.
Kristian Zagar aka "bagar" in his last year of studies at The game assembly (http://www.thegameassembly.com/) in Malmรถ/Sweden. His a top student and his team Fat unicorn games(http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fat-Unicorn-Games/154568334564658) got contacted by riot games to discuss hiring.
I did not get in to that class thow. But that made sence, Im not realy that kind of artist. But I started with a course for application dev, and will soon start on a company that makes games for facebook and more.
(I got the assignment to make Bagars Portfolio on the web, I will post a simple site soon)
