Share the .skp file so we can see what you have.

What version of SketchUp are you actually using? Your profile says 2019 Make but there is no such version.

Something I noticed, but probably already posted somewhere here is that if the group and accordingly the straight line is bigger than the curve (in length) it will give very strange outcomes.
So make sure that the part that needs to be bend is in length shorter than the curve.

          Hope that helps

If the object being bent is not the same length as the curve, it will be stretched or compressed to the length of the curve. If you don't want that distortion, make the straight object the same length as the curve. Also keep in mind that the location of the straight line relative to the straight object affects the bent object.

Can you fix the end of a bent object where the edges get soften for no reason.

Yes. You can quickly fix that by triple clicking on the bent component with Select and then right click on it and choose Soften/Smooth.

Are you following the correct sequence of selections, and are the line and curve drawn in the right relationship ?
This tool has been around for years and works well when it is passed the correct selection etc...

If you revisit your process but still have issues then please post a simple example SKP with the problem and clearly explain your steps to failure...

I see the shape bender plugin is free. But when I download sketchup, I need to register to use it.

Please clarify what you mean. The only currently available versions of SketchUp that can utilize extensions require a subscription to use and you would have to register to get the subscription. The Shape Bender extension is free to use but SketchUp is not.

I"m a little new to SketchUp. I've been working with the free version for about a year, now I have the 2025 Pro version and It's not accepting the extension on the download? I'm not sure how to resolve it.
                          Can you offer suggestions?

When you say 'not accepting it on download' it is unclear.
Have you installed it using the Extensions > Extension Manager ?
If so restart SketchUp and it should appear in the Toolbars list and under the Extensions submenu 'Chris Fullmer Tools'.
It is an older extension and is unsigned.
This means that SketchUp will not load it unless the Extension Manager's Loading Policy is set to 'Unrestricted'.
After resetting that you need to restart SketchUp to sync everything...
