Whats this called?

It's a little sprung steel clip you push over the end of a bolt to hold it in place.
Anyone know what the real name for it is?

Thanks

It is a Multi-Tooth (or 'star') washer. Some people call them spring-washers - but this isn't correct.
EDIT - to be pedantic, the type you've shown is an 'inside-star' washer. Some have the teeth on the outside, and are called...you guessed it....

shaft (or bolt) retaining ring, push-on retainer, or retainer nut.

I would go with Jim's push on retainer. A star washer, internal or external woud be used under a nut as a locking device. It wouldn't have the side as your drawing shows. Those retainers are a pain to get off which I suppose is the point.

It's probably a 'Push-on Retainer' although similar to a "Star Washer", there are lots of similar things too, like 'Circlips' - see... http://www.cirteq.com/products.asp?s=2

OK, thanks again.
