Whenever I miss the brilliant things that CP drops out of the sky every now and then I just go back to the Sketchy Physics Piano and try plunk out a little tune. I hope all is well.

Me thinks Mr. Phillips is loosing (lost ❓ ) interest in supporting SketchyPhysics. 😲

He is less than responsive to posts, and updates are non-existant. 👎

We've known for a long time he doesn't like documenting much, which is an occupational hazard for innovative developers. But super simple stuff like maintaining his SketchUcation page with basic release info has fallen to the wayside. 🤢

It's a shame though. SP is really neat, but in need of some upgrades Chris promised that never transpired. 😢

          Question:
I am trying to use a slider to power a simple gun. I grouped the slider to the "bolt" (the part that I want to slide) but when I try to parent it to the barrel than nothing happens. I select the parent tool, and than CTRL-Click the barrel. All that happens is that the joint-connector tool selects the barrel, but it doesn't parent the slider. Any thoughts? EDIT: I am using Sketchup8 and SP 3.1.

            1. Object can be linked to more than one joint, and vice versa.

Actually, Connecting two objects to a single controlled joint will not work correctly. Either object will take on a static position once the simulation is commenced.

I have a problem I can not see the SketchyPhysics Inspector window comes in blue and does not make me change the parameters of my project ... I'm going crazy aiutatemieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

                Really confused . . .

At the moment the project home page lists a release date of Sept 27 2010, the download page it links to says Dec 10 2010, and the newest Windows release in the list of all downloads without a "deprecated" tag says Apr 2009, and the post starting this thread says the newest will always be listed at the top of a page it links to, but it only links a search page that links back to the same post . . . three different dates on three different pages, and one red herring on another. . .

To compound this, if you search the plugins index for SketchyPhysics it lists several posts for several different versions, and I'm not sorting out which one is newest . . .

                HALP!

What setting should I add to the buoyancy settings to allow the simulated water to interact with a propeller for example in the model, to allow its movement to propel the boat?
                  Cheers!

I don't think that direct action/reaction between the propeller and bouyant water is possible. You can link the propeller rotation and perhaps a push ([x,y,x]) function in some ruby script or else a hidden thruster attached to the boat. Hope this helps

Steven, see "Exporting animation" in my 'Simulation Aborted' thread. Anton takes you through the steps but it's not straight forward nor easy.

Good to see deskpilot helping out 😄

Steven, here is the thread that deskpilot talked about: http://sketchucation.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=61%26amp;t=60419#p552495

Also, SketchyPhysics 3.5.5 main thread has various "how to" links, including how to export animation.

                            Hi,
I would like to have information on the units of the mechanical adjustments. Example: Density in kg / m-cubic yes? For motors: Max acceleration, Strength ( force en newton ) what are these settings for from a physical point of view.
How to make the link with the reality of indoor tests and measurements?
                            how to use them.
Are there any examples of calibrations? Where to find this information. Thanks, happy New Year.
