Has anyone any luck finding a powerful enough video card that allows user to view changes in sun position and shadow in realtime?

Unless the model is very complicated my rather old nVidia 7800 card doesnt usually have any trouble. having said that, if your in the market for a new card just look out for one with good openGL compliance. The quadro cards are generally the best in this respect, although quite pricey.

In my old comp I have an ATI Radeon X 550 (relly old card) and I have no problem with it and real time shadows if the model is not very heavy for that old wreck anyway.

Even my two year old MacBook (no special graphics card at all) can cope with moving the date/time slider for shadows for any model I've ever made. If you're having problems it may well be a driver problem or conceivably some weirdness in the model concerned.

I have a Quadro FX 3700 in my new desktop. If you upload the model you are referring to I can test it for you.

yes. we could all do the benchmark test, we used in the hardware recommendation thread, on your model. then we can compare it and see whether your graphic card performs well or poorly.

in the meanwhile they have some cheapened models too as e.g. the FX370/570 starting at roughly 150-200 U$.
