SU7 is taking so long because...
-
...because this Google guy created that little in-SketchUp game (thanks to web dialogs). and now all they do is create maps and enjoy huge network sessions with loads of little knights, whitches and orks running around in SketchUp
-
...because they added too many cool new features, and 7 has grown in to an orb of cool features thats trying to take over the world. Theyre fighting desperately to keep it at bay, but reports arent looking good. Its already taken over the canteen and the immediate area has been sealed of, and theres this weird rattling in the ducting...
-
...they don't know what to add now that Fredo6 has made Tools on surface and Joint Push Pull and Whaat made Subdivide and Smooth.
-
...they don't know what to develope because our Ruby Gurus are much faster and they were behind.
-
...they working on a high poly solution and can't get it to work because Sketchup is too slow for it
-
...they saw silver-shadows work and can't top it without having a completly renewal.
-
They wanted to release it, but the beta testers asked so nicely it was decided to let them play with it for another 18 months.
-
...or the beta testers are fighting adamantly for the features the users like to see and prevent the release date.

oh my God!!! the canteen!!!
would love to see some documentary of the fight against the monster they created;
would be good to know, which rubies they use to stop the spreading of SU7. are they trying to lasso it with a bezier curve? or are they going to subsmooth the outer walls of the lab to make it more difficult to climb them? or do they fire a massive polyreducer onto SU7's defense?the last resort will probably be to disable lines. but then the Google team can't use inference anymore - which makes it quite difficult to keep the system at bay...

No need to search for him, Toby. He's been working for FormFonts for the past few years. As for the vehicles....get them while the site's still up.

...because they are busy hammering out their diabolical scheme with Bill Gates, whereby it will be available only for the Vista operating system.
-
Thats pretty nefarious, daniel. Fingers crossed they havent got anything like that brewing away at google HQ.
-
... because they are going multi-platform. X-box PS3 Wii, Everybody is going to SketchUp!
but, on a more serious note... Why are all you guys expecting all those things from Google. To this day the only innovative thing they did to the software was to create shinny buttons. No offense, I like SU 6 but I just don't see SU 7 being a milestone [if it is even going to be released at all]
-
I think its mostly because people love SU for what it currently is, and so want to see it become something really special.
-
It is taking so long because of Global Warming.
-
SU7 is taking so long because....
Team Google after looking at our demands decided that only a miracle could satisfy everyone, so they took up religion and huddled for a group prayer and now just waiting for a reply.

Sorry, but I disagree - in v6, WebDialogs and Observers opened up vast new territory for ruby authors, and we've still only scratched the surface of what is possible.
-
SU7 is taking so long because....
the developers are spending all their time browsing the sketchucation forums, cracking wise on the posts.
-
...because they are too busy watching the presidential race?
